The Secretariat of the National Council for Research & Technology (NCRT) is responsible for:

Coordinating and supporting the operation of the NCRT; organizing the plenary meetings and drawing-up the minutes;

Coordinating the operation of Sectorial Scientific Councils in collaboration with their respective Secretaries.

The Sectorial Scientific Councils cover the following areas:

- Biosciences (Biology, Medicine, Agricultural Science, Food & Nutrition, Biotechnology)

- Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Materials Science)

- Mathematics & ICT

- Engineering

- Energy and Environment

- Social Sciences

- Arts & Humanities
