Dr Chrysakis Emmanuel is a Research Director at the National Centre for Social Research (E.K.K.E). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Timisoara Romania and a M.Sc. in Production and Work Management from the same University. He has extensive professional experience in initial, post-secondary and continuing education and vocational training, especially in VET building capacity, curriculum development and in the framework of EU Phare projects, as well as significant research and academic experience in Social Economy Social Enterprises and NGOs development, including Local Employment Action Plans and SME development issues. He has also extensive experience in conducting empirical studies in using research instruments, methodologies and qualitative methods of social research on labour market and skills deficits. Finally he hands on experience on issues related to labour market policies and social exclusion, as well as extensive experience in the management, monitoring and evaluation of EU funded projects (including PHARE) and in long-term research on labour markets in Eastern European countries.

Since 1997, Dr Chrysakis is an Assistant professor in the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Department of Health and Social care Management, charged with curriculum development and delivery of several courses: “Social and Health Policy Issues” (1998 – 2003), “Systems of social protection” (2003 – 2008), “Social Economy and Entrepreneurship” (2008 – 2013). For the academic years 1999-2005 he was a Lecturer in the University of Patras, charged with curriculum preparation and delivery of the courses: a) “Social and Educational exclusion” and b) “Social characteristics of employment”.

Dr Chrysakis has published an adequate number of papers relating to social economy, poverty, employment, unemployment, education and training and social exclusion from the labour market. He has also conducted several evaluation projects on labour market, vocational training and social policy issues.
