Speaker Tatiana Karabchuk

Deputy Director of Laboratory for Comparative Social Research at National Research University Higher School of Economics; Associate Professor at the Department of Economic Sociology at HSE and senior research fellow at the Laboratory for Economic and Sociological Studies at HSE.

Tatiana received her PhD in economic sociology and demography in 2009 at Higher School of Economics, Moscow. The successfully defended thesis on “Non-Standard Employment in Russia” was backed up by six scientific publications in Russian peer-reviewed journals and three book chapters. Started working with HSE in 2002, as a junior research fellow, Tatiana accumulated many experiences: research, teaching, organization, administrative tasks, financial planning, fundraising, network development, recruitment etc. Since 2002, she has been participating in more than 17 research projects, heading five of them as a team-leader. The projects are devoted to the labour market inequalities, labour legislation, and wage differentiation, females on the labour market, fertility, poverty, atypical employment and values change.Tatiana gained 12 research grants and fellowships both individual and group ones. The publication record of Tatiana Karabchuk consists of 17 articles in peer-reviewed journals in Russian and six English ones, 3 more are under review process. The latest one on “Employment Type and Subjective Well-Being across Europe: Does Labour Legislation Matter?” was submitted to “Social Forces”. Tatiana is a reviewer for two Russian journals and two international journals, as well as a member of Advisory Board of the Journal of “Social Forces”. Tatiana is a Principal Investigator in World Value Survey Association for the latest 6th wave. She participated in more than 30 research workshops and international conference including events organized by ASA, ISA, WISE, IZA, World Bank, ILO, EALE, ICOH, WIDER, SASE, EACES, IWPLMS, IOS, LCSR, EBES, EBEEC, ICCEES, AIEL etc.
